Affirmations can be very powerful. And today’s affirmation is no exception!
One of the most powerful statements in the Universe is the I AM statement. God said his (or her) name is “I AM that I AM.” God resides within each and every one of. We are all one, and we are all one with God. When we make a statement that starts with “I AM,” we are reflecting God in ourselves. So, we really want to be careful about what we follow that “I AM” with. If we choose strong, positive, life affirming words, then we really are identifying and reflecting God. When we choose negative or hurtful words to follow “I AM,” I feel like it can almost be an insult to God – when we say negative things about ourselves, since God resides within us, aren’t we really saying those same things about God?
Today’s affirmation states: “I am well. I am whole. I am strong and I am healthy.” Those are all positive, life-affirming words, appropriate and wonderfully reflective of the God within each of us. We all deserve to feel well, whole, strong and healthy. I believe that God wants us to feel all of those things.
One way we can feel well, whole, strong and healthy is to start identifying ourselves as all of those things. We can remove negative words that reflect the opposite of those things from our vocabulary and replace them with these positive words. When we follow the words “I AM” with these positive words, well, whole, strong, healthy… we own those qualities. We embrace what God wants for us, and we take those qualities on.
Even when, ESPECIALLY when, you are feeling less than well, less than whole, less than strong, less than healthy, say this affirmation anyway. Repeat it to yourself over and over. A part of you WILL recognize the God in you that reflects those qualities. A part of you WILL hear it. A part of you WILL own it. A part of you WILL start to become it. And that’s how we can best honor God, and best honor ourselves… set ourselves on a path to become all of those things.
